Sensory illusions -- like magic tricks -- work by taking advantage of the brain's assumptions, thus allowing us to overlook sleight of hand or optical illusion. And now researchers say that these sensory biases can be "hacked by a carefully engineered illusion" -- which even works on single-celled organisms.
