Head of world athletics’ governing body says it is impossible to be sure that blood test irregularities mean an athlete doped

The head of the world athletics governing body has dismissed as “a farce” the idea of redistributing scores of Olympic and world championship medals following leaked data allegedly showing abnormal blood test results by athletes.

Lamine Diack, president of the IAAF, who steps down later this month, said it was impossible to say for certain that irregularities in blood tests mean an athlete was doping.
