Shooting At Charleston Church Prompts Large Police Response

A shooting occurred at the Emmanuel AME church in Charleston, South Carolina, on Wednesday night, the Charleston Police Department confirmed.

The incident took place around 9 p.m., WCSC reported, and prompted a large police response. At least six ambulances were spotted at the scene.

ABC4 reports that multiple people have been shot, and that the shooter has not been apprehended.

The suspect was described by authorities as a clean shaven white male, 21 years old, slender build and wearing a grey sweatshirt and blue jeans.
